INNER REFLECTION SERIE 2

This installation that enables the audience to reflect on their inner self in relation to themselves, to the world and to the universe. In this interactive installation I provide an atmosphere for intrigue, exploration, contemplation and finally, self-reflection.
The installation is a life-size hand mirror placed on a wall. The mirror has a diffused reflection, reflecting undefined features or detail.

RELIEF
PHOTOGRAPHY
2018
Prayers are like stairways that ascend to the heavens, as a butterfly floating lightly and harmoniously.
This series conveys the transformation that comes from a spiritual practice, formal or informal, that leads to a spiritual connection and helps you achieve a state of surrender, inner peace and tranquility.
This sculpture illustrates a stagnant state, where one thinks he/she is developing and progressing but is actually going in circles.

INNER REFLECTION SERIES 1
PHOTOGRAPHY
2016
What we see in our reflection reveals our soul. In a mirror, we see the reflection of our image. But if we linger, what is reflected back to us is what is inside us; painted on the surface of the mirror we can see our joy or sadness, our enthusiasm or frivolity and our positive or negative feelings.

STATE OF MIND
INSTALLATION
2016
This performative work is representing the situation of feeling literally trapped and chained when in reality one is just mentally confined.

CHILD'S PLAY

2016
Children’s toys playing at being adults by playing with children’s toys.

WHERE I LAST SAW YOU
PHOTOGRAPHY
2018
Rooms can be disingenuous (deceitful) to the outsider; they convey a certain mood with their decor. But people are clueless (oblivious) to the varying (diversity of) emotions shared in the space. This space has been a witness to the hundreds of hours I have spent there, witnessing a mixture of sadness, happiness, hope, longing, and empathy. Three months or more were spent here with my father before he passed away. People can create their own narrative about whether any space they inhabit is happy or sad.

JUSTICE SERIES
PHOTOGRAPHY
2017
The Justice Series. In this work I wanted to show where superheroes stand powerless in front of the destruction caused by humans. Children in different situations (Shelter, war, and poverty)

PRECARIOUS
INSTALLATION

FEATHER; A COLLECTIVE NARRATIVE
INSTALTION
2018
The sculpture is larger than life-size, made of a dove feather coated in steel and suspended from the inside ceiling of a glass box. Doves represent peace. The feather represents the soul of an abused woman. Steel is used to encase the feather to represent her strength and resilience. Women from different cultures and socio-economic background will be interviewed as part of the project. Their names will be inscribed on the feather to honor these women. The feather is encased in a glass case. The glass box is used as a medium to represent the precarious situation she is in.

UNTITLED: SWINGS
SITE-SPECIFIC
2018
The swing is associated with playing, relaxing, and feeling exhilarated. Swinging gives the feeling of free movement and takes us back to childhood and a simpler time. This installation was inspired by Riyadh’s modern progress and fast encroaching development. I have witnessed much change since my childhood. This inspired me to place swings in unexpected and unorthodox positions such as between two buildings, up against a wall or in a blank room, which, places that, restrict, prevent any feeling of freedom.
